Went way out to spot where my addiction started....huge rock overhang I’ve posted pics on in the past. Don’t go here much, as it’s a long way out there...this place needs more of my attention....poked around in front of the huge rock that is the central fixture of this place. First I found the the chert blade thing. Heavily used and abused, uniface. Found a couple little chunked chert. Then...I popped this mill stone out. It had found its way into a crevice that I’ve never been able to get at before today. I’m stoked about the stone. It’s polished. Grinded and used all around. Ground flat on edges. Has small dimples in center both sides. I see what your selling.

Thanks for vote of confidence. Coolest hammer/mill/knapping stone I’ve found. Context is perfect as to where it was found. Here’s a few pics out in the sunlight. I’m heading back to overhang later w my brother. And will get some in situ pics of the location. Cool place of the ancients ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1621776460.372390.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1621776475.910474.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1621776485.746161.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1621776495.127927.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1621776510.347025.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1621776529.916664.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1621776547.933474.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1621776559.880419.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1621776569.718098.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1621776585.886012.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1621776602.517626.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1621776612.932283.jpg

Looks like it was used to smash or break down organic something or another, then mill/grind it to break it down further.
Handy looking stone.

And since I don,t know diddly about rocks,I,ll take your word for it!Sounds like a real nice spot you,ve got there.Hope you find some more so we can look at them.Nice!

i was guessing a simple river rock
I’m my mind, the multiple flat ground faces were the first clue..combined with the cortext beat away on the likely edges… combined with the fact it was found in/near a cliff/overhang/dwelling/shelter, and that it looks awful handy…seals the deal for me.

Open to better learned folks input of course.

Yes , all opinions are good w me. It was a simple river rock to start, then at some point, the fact of the location it was found , and the fact that rocks like that aren’t really common any where around my property / creeks, I assume an ancient person picked up this river rock. Carried it with them and refined it through years of usage , smoothly polished except where it has been modified. The grinding patterns on the edges is man made, not by nature. Again, believe what you will. I believe if this is in anyone’s hand presently, they would come to the same conclusions I have. Stone tool, nicely kept, preserved away from the elements below the large work rock in the overhang. Thanks for looking and All the feedback. Hopefully more to come soon.
