Is it metal or stone?

If it is metal (brass?), it could be furniture hardware or leather decor.

It's metal. Brass I believe. Looks like it had a post in the middle underside

Unless someone provides an absolute positive ID, I'll still go with furniture hardware (drawer pull,etc), saddle/leather adornment, or possibly a coat/cape button. Without the post/shank/hook/ or whatever, it's a little difficult to tell.
