Dang it anyways....it had to happen. It snowed! My poor buffalo head in the rock garden is going to disappear under a cold blanket of that awful white stuff. To keep the batteries warm and snug, I taped a hot pack on the AT Gold box.
Here's a view from an area I was searching. There are small ice flows beginning to appear in the North Saskatchewan river, which runs through the heart of Edmonton.
My first solid hit was an old steel tea pot buried about 8 inches. It was in pretty rough shape, so I re-buried it so someone else with a detector might find it.
My next solid reading stayed in the 80's, and I figured I was going to get a coin. I was way out......I dug up an old vintage bullet lighter, which was missing the cap.
Next I found yet another odd lighter. A lighter (butane)designed to look like a chainsaw? How weird is that? I have never in my life seen one of those.......
I found my first ever intact glass milk bottle. I have seen hundreds at antique stores, and dug thousands of those aluminum opening covers. Luckily it still has some of that foil on the opening, or else I would have missed it.
Below is a pick of my few finds from today.
