I am new to MD and just bought my first detector. I literally took it out of the box and started sweeping an old arboretum at my college. Below a 75 year old Norway Spruce I got a strong hit. It was unable to pinpoint what it was, but it did say that it was about 6 inches down. I dug up this spoon, which at first I thought was quite ordinary until I cleaned it up. In the handle it says NEW YORK STATE, and the back says A L CAHN & SONS NEW YORK. I was unable to find any information on the manufacturer or what type of metal its made of. Maybe someone can shed some light on it for me. I am so excited to get out and hunt some more, unfortunately I only had 20 minutes to search today, but I feel my first find ever is cool! HH Everyone!
