Out in the woods with DDub & L4S and I found a Key date 1895 Barber d!

Went out metal detecting with DDub & Lookn4seated for a 6+ hour hunt out in the woods, we started off at 1 site that we had hoped would produce for us but after a few hours we just found some IH's, wheats and I found my barber dime, I showed it to L4S and he said it was a good year so I was happy. After that we stopped off at "Windy City Detectors" so DDub could pick up his new SunRay probe and we chatted with Ron for a bit. After that we headed out to another spot in the woods where we had some luck at last year and right off the bat DDub found 2 silver's and the rest of the finds.

The button below was found by Lookn4seated and I think its a type of CW button, anybody have any input if it is or what it could be? It has writing on the back but I didn't get a pix of it, he will have to add the info for that. Enjoy the video and Happy Hunting!!!

Again, the button is Indian Wars 1875-1902.. the easiest way to tell is the top of the wings pointing out and creating a horizantal line across the top of the wingspan. CW eagle button's wings continue upward.. Gratz on the key date

Yea I have found both types in the past, sounds like you just found the banner pins. From what people have told me the full badge type I have posted is an Eagle Scout badge (I found another on a few years ago but from what I remember it didn't have the 2 stars on either side of the eagle) the badges are just about the size of a silver dollar, as for the banner pins maybe they are just for boy scouts and are the size of quarters.

Yeah that's probably what I have, the smaller cubscout banner pin. Even the earlier Boyscout items seem to be pretty common.

Yea if you look on the back of your pin it will say "PAT. 1911" & "B.S. OF A.", but who knows when they were really made.

Great video and congrats on your finds. I like your BSA hat pin. I am a scout leader and have been collecting for years and love finding scout items.

hey treasurefiend i was at a bottle show in may i was telling him about your bottle dig place he says he knows you and the place it was a old municipal dump he lives in springfield mo now i didnt get his name he is in his late 40s early 50s wears glasses and a curly q mustache strange world

here is a bsa button i found last year it is a original the local scout office wants it for the little shadow box in the office it is the top button on my scout shirt now

Cool I used to hunt an old closed down Scouts site and found a few of those buttons, if you look at the bottom under the eagle you will see "Pat 1911". My avatar is a special neckerchief "strengthin the arm of liberty" from what I remember was in the 40's when the Scouts raised money to add additional structural support to the arm because it was failing and it got a buckle/bulge from the weight.

just out in the woods, people would get out of the city (Chicago) and hunt, fish, and picnic
