This morning Silvergurl and I met up with Brett to hunt some woods. Talk about hard diggin!!!! The ground was bone dry and the trash and false signals were out of control but I managed to find some goodies. I also found another Pepsi bottle, this one is just pained on from the 60's I think but I may be wrong. I snapped both sides of it as it has 2 different logos on it. Later I found my 3rd ring for the year, it was down like 5 inches and it has to be a child's ring. It is stamped with 830 on the inside 2 times and like 3 crowns (or 3 W's) and an "S" on the outside of the band, anybody know what they mean? Is it a cheap silver? It has to be really old for it to have sank so far being as its so small but it is surprisingly heavy for its size and it rang up like a solid dime. Oh well here are the pix and I am gonna make another video later on. enjoy and happy hunting everyone!!!!

UPDATE:
I looked 830 silver up and this is what I found:

"Swedish triple crown stamp, "S" (in hexagon indicating 830 silver or higher)"

"Britain always used the standard 925 and had another standard which is 950 silver which was called Britannia silver (this Britannia silver is seldom seen) and instead of the Lion rampant or lion Pageant you would see Britaina.Britain never used a standard less than 925.Hence why British silver is sought after pre-1900 hundreds. Britain would not accept any standard below 925 as silver. Most European countries up until 1920s used 830s. Scandinavian countries used 830s silver like Denmark moved to using 925 silver in 1927 however even though a higher grade of silver was used by most jewellers in Scandinavia, they stuck to stamping there jewellery 830s as they did not have to pay a tariff to the assaying office for the change over to 925. So most Jewellery made by fine houses in Scandinavia will in fact be marked 830s but will have a standard silver of 925"

Re: Out in the woods again and found more oldies.

Kermit,

Awesome finds! The 830 silver is slightly less pure than 925 but it's much less common than sterling (925). Nice job on the silver Washington, I am way overdue on one of those. The Pepsi bottle is probably from the 50's-60's, I have a bunch I used to find on the railroad tracks when I was a kid. I like the old applied-label Pepsi bottles, something about the colors and the old Pepsi logo. Nice hunt!

Joe

Sweet ring Fiend! Is it a returnable bottle? The nickel back then, adjusted for inflation, might just get you a full bottle today.

great ring and awesome silver quarter, WTG!!

Re: Out in the woods again and found more oldies.

Good hunt today Kermit! You took the crown today for sure!

I was really sucking big time today in the woods. There should have been a lot more in there, so I'm guessing it's been pounded over the years and picked clean... IF that's even possible because there's an infinite amount of iron out there potentially masking great targets.

Once I got back out into the turf a few times I scored an old nickel 1948, and 4 wheaties, 20's, '30's and 40's. I did get a little lead figurine in the woods, which is probably my best find of the day. Digging in the turf just felt wrong though, for how dry the ground was. I sure hope we get some rain soon.

It was great hunting with you and Mary today! Let's do it again sometime soon :-)

Glad you folks had a nice hunt.... no bugs and no rain is always a good for a hunt....
Congrats on the coinage and finds..
