Out for first time and dont know what this is.

Was out yesterday for an hour or so hunting the side walk medians in an old industrial area. I found a clad quarter from the 80's, a clad dime also from the 80's and 74, 75, 76 American pennies and a 74 Canadian penny. I found an old file ( the main factory was an old file factory ) and a mystery object. It seems like it was something I used to see as a kid. Can anyone identify what this is?

Looks like some kind of container to me. Does the top unscrew from the bottom?

It is a Fob. Most people use them to carry medication in and then attach it to their key rings.

It looks like a medicine fob to me. Lots of folks use them as small geocache containers too.

Yes it does indeed unscrew. It is a little waterproof container like you have described. Empty though.
