Out by Victorville - For some reason I'm afraid to handle this material?

From a small deposit north of Victorville.
Crumbles easily. Has a new growth of tiny white crystals after it rained.

I agree looks like alkaline soils in the quartz hence the white crystals.Really mineralized soil there.
