Dad & I spent nearly 5 hours trying to track down a lead we had for a Medieval meeting place at a crossroads. We tried last week with limited success, so this time we tried the neighbouring field. After several hours of not finding much we moved to the far end to dig an old dump area we found last year. This is where Dad got the nice Cloak Clasp!

Broken Jetton
10 Pfennig
2 Scrappies
Crotal Bell - still rings
18th C Miltia Button
17th C Button
Couldron Foot
Lead Spindal Whorl
Flint
2 Tudor Cloth Fasteners
Medieval Coin Weight
Victorian Silver & Gold Locket Lid
Siver Washed Thick Brass Civil War Lion Heads Cape Clasp
Dad's Lions Head Clasp, our first of this type!:icon_thumright:

Those are nice finds Crusader! I think finding goodies from our countries histories is sometimes better than diggin' coins.

BTW, what's a "Scrappy"? (I couldn't even find it in my Aussie dictionary!)

Its a term that Dad & I use to discribe a bronze Roman Coin with very little or no detail. Most people call them grots.

Nice stuff.

The locket cover.

And a real old type crotal, don't think I'll ever get one like that.

Really nice lions head, and in great shape.
What's your next field to hit, any ideas? I have few fields to go to, I hope on Monday to visit a new one.
It's the silver and gold locket made of silver? Looks pretty heavy.
Congrats

The next field to hit in that area is planted with Strawberries, so we will have to wait until at least Sept.

Yes, it's a thin silver with a rose gold applied to the top.

Have your strawberry fields no irrigation? We have strawberrys all over the area. More and more every year. :BangHead: All these fields are off limits because of the irrigation...

Wow you and your dad dug some really nice things.Yaw always amaze me with what yuns find.way to go

That lion head is great ! Reminds me of a massive door knocker we used to have on a front door in Montana.

Cool clasp! I like the flint too! Is the one thimble in the middle silver?

The Strawberry Field is rented by other owners & this is the last year of their lease, so it being put back to normal fields, ie. ploughed back in to flatten it etc..

No its a promotional Aluminium one that states 'News of the World Sale Exceed 300000 copies'. This newspaper was the one that was put out of business by the reason phone hacking issue.

Wonderful designs on many of these old items! Anyone would be THRILLED to dig the splendid lion's head clasp -- I imagine you and your Dad celebrated right there in the field today! Looking forward to seeing the results of your next venture. HH Andi

Cool lions head! I'd love to hunt that spot.

Yeap every swing was full of targets, but we needed to dig sensitively, as the Wheat Crop was growing.
