My daughter and I were detecting at a site where we found a siren ring that we posted yesterday. We were detecting at the back of the house where we got a coin signal. We dug down about 8 inches and found a small square chunk of iron that was producing the coin signal. I thought that it was just more of the junk that we commonly find there and almost put it into our iron pile next to a tree. I lightly tapped this square chunk of rust with my Lesche digging tool and it shattered to reveal stacks of Lincoln Penny's and one Canadian penny! I carried the pile of rust and coins home in my hand just to get a good picture for T-Net. Even though it was just a Lincoln cents from the late 1960s and early 1970s me and Lily were thrilled with our first cache and Lily finally found the treasure chest she looks for every time we go detecting.
