My Brother and I are new to this and met this week end at the old homestead that has been in the family since the early 1940's. The home stead was settle just after the civil war.
I acquired a used Tesoro Compadre and he purchased a new White Coinmaster Pro Friday.
We did our first hunt together and we think we did well. My used compadre was able to signal everything the Coin-master signaled so that was good. The coin-Master was able to ID and provide depth.
Not every thing was 100% right but we understand that it is only a guide.
Since we are new at this we did a lot of testing
We did mange to locate and dig up several pennies.
One was a 1944 and the other a 1045D - The others we copper clad
We found a lot of interesting items we remember from our childhood so that was cool.
We also got a surprise on a couple of old artifacts we think must date back to the pioneer days.
One is an odd looking ax blade from a hand ax
The other is a shovel blade that we thought was a coin until it was dug up.
It was right next to the old well that served the house. the metal is quite thick and nothing like the todays? stamped shovel blades.
Here is a photo. Main thing is we had a good time.
