Wow! Great story! Well done Matteo!

My uncle, recently passed away, was a waist-gunner on a B-24 over Italy. He had some stories... I especially liked the one about taking a vote of crew members on whether or not to throw the "top secret" Norden bombsight out of their badly damaged plane in a effort to lighten the load. The vote was unanimous. They threw it out somewhere over German occupied Italy. He said they threw everthing that wasn't nailed down out through a huge flak hole in the side of the aircraft. The bomb sight was the last thing out. They made it safely back to base.
