This measures 3 1/2" X 3". When I dug this it came out of the ground like tarnished silver. The dirt rinsed right off. I know it was fastened on something but what? It is not marked but it looks like silver. Any ideas?

Thanks guys for the info. That's kind of a bummer knowing what it was used for.RelicHunter97 said:http://cherokeemoonjewelry.blogspot.com/2010/11/our-darling-victorian-mourning-departed.html
Something like this maybe?
Whoops! got beaten to it!
This was found in a yard in the center of town. The cemetery is a couple hundred yards from where this was found. Might be a good piece to leave at the cemetery though. Knowing where you found it would help to identify it as to a burial at sea or in a cemetery. Thanks....

Is that Jo Ann LaFlult?
