I'm going to Guess Orchards.

But no idea what type.

If it were here I'd say apple

Can you get an Arial of the areas & see if
any still have Trees in lines ?

I think Jeff is right on. I have an 1892 map showing similar markings.

Other thoughts:
Contact the Planning Dept. of your county--with your map. See if they can overlay it with current map. (as mentioned above).
OR
Contact your county's historical society and ask them:
