Anyone recognize what this copper disc is from and approximate age? Found in an area with a bit over 110 years of known activity. I don't see anything written on it or any logo that I can make out. It's 2" in diameter and has a tiny lip on the back side. The lip doesn't seem big enough to snap onto anything like a powder/makeup case. It does look a bit like the back side of a wristwatch, but, kinda big for that isn't it? And I don't recall ever seeing one made of relatively thin copper. I don't know why a hole was punched into it. Maybe a kid made it into a pendant?

I would figure it would have the same pattern on both sides if it was that.....and be heavier too. The hole isn't factory made either, looks to be punched out with a nail.

The wavy diamond pattern reminds me of a compact case. Do you think it was silver plated before you cleaned it up? Or maybe more likely an inner “lid” for a pocket watch. Definitely repurposed. Cool

I don't see any evidence of plating, latch, or hinge having been on this piece.

Reminds me of back of a pocket watch

I found a Cuban cigar box token that was one sided and was once nailed to a humidor with a small nail. It was an inlay.
Just saying it could be just that, could have been an inlay for something.

I think digging440yrs got it. The nail hole is def a later addition for ? It is off-center.
