Ordering the Tesoro Vaquero

I would say, anywhere you feel they have a better deal, or you like their service.
Let us know what you think of it.
I've been looking at that one and their Tejon. I don't need it, but I like my toys.
Perhaps in time you could leave a revue on it.
Congrats and enjoy. HH

Good choice. I have been hearding some good things about this detector on the relic forums. The price of $420 appears to be universal so just pick a good dealer(any dealers near you?).
This detector also made Steve H's list of VLF detectors that can used for gold nugget hunting as well as for coin and relic.

Steve's Nugget Detector Guide For Alaska - Updated October 2005

Tesoro Vaquero (List $525, 14.7 kHz) - This new detector from Tesoro offers a sensitive manual ground balancing all-metal mode and a full range discrimination setting that makes it suitable for hunting gold nuggets in addition to its coin, relic and jewelry detecting uses. Good versatile performance at an entry level price. Seven accessory coils are available for the Vaquero.

Steve's Opinion - The Vaquero is so new that it is as yet unproven in the goldfields. However, I'm excited by this new detector in that it offers all the basic requirements for nugget detecting in a very light package and a very low price. The average "street price" is only $420. One huge advantage the Vaquero has out of the starting gate is the fact that it shares searchcoils with the very popular Tesoro Lobo SuperTRAQ. This means that although it is a brand new detector it already has seven accessory coils available. Its 2.5 pounds weight also makes it the lightest detector listed here. The light weight, accessory coils, and low price make this an attractive entry level unit or second detector for prospecting.

Thanks to everyone for your comments and suggestions.

And also thanks much for the info you gave, George.

I've been posting on forums and writing to various active treasure hunters and most seem to be saying that this is not only a good "entry level" machine, it's very possibly as good as the top coin/relic detectors of any brand and price.

If these things prove to be true, I predict the Vaquero will be the big hit of 2006. As the Ace 250 stole the show in 2005, the Vaquero now carries the torch.

One person said his tests showed it beats the Minelabs for depth in coin shooting. I'd have to see that myself to believe it.

At any rate, it's definitely worth a try.

Thanks again to everyone.

The guy that did the minelab comparison, sounds like an air tester.
Anyway, good luck with the Vaquero. HH

Thanks what I figure.

Minelabs don't air test worth a flip. At least my Excalibur didn't.
