Where the pavement ends in NC
I have a Keene A52 Sluice that works really well. We were at a dig the other week and almost everyone else was using a high banker or a power sluice. Keene sells a conversion kit for the A52 to convert it to a Power Sluice. One of the guys had one and was moving much more material than I was. Another prospector down the line had a Pro Line brand. The sluice part was much shorter than the A52 but he had run two loads of material to our one. Also his engine ran about half throttle and was very quite compared to the Keene.

So, my question is this: Which would be the better way to go. Buy a Pro Line High banker or sink around a grand in converting the Keene A52? All ideas are welcome!

By the way, we all had color at the end of the day.

Proline is 2 pieces of equipment in 1- a "real" dredge and highbanker-keene 1 piece--dredging on grizzly bars is NOT dredging. Proline built to industrial grade-Tons a au 2 u 2-John

Thanks for the replies! The Proline did impress me a lot. I have been surfing the net, looking for a dealer with a price that don't scare me away. Anyone here a dealer or that can recommend one? Shipping will be to NC, that drives the total up a pretty good bit.

Thanks again.

Have you looked at the Honcoop highbankers to?

Get yourself a highbanker, whether it be the Pro Line or whatever. Keep your A52 as it is, 'cause there will be times that you might only want to carry in a sluice box rather than a highbanker!

Good luck gettin' the gold!

Thanks everyone, I sent out some e-mails and am waiting on replies. The one reply I received was from out West and shipping was 250$. That makes it too high for my wallet. I need a dealer at least on the East side of the Mississippi. If you can recommend one I will contact them.

My recommendation is to wait until Oct and go to one of the Gold Shows.Oct 18-19 in Dayton,Oh,Oct 25-26 in Gainsville Ga.Dealers there make deals, especially on Sunday.

That's a GOOD idea. They have one of those at Tom Johnsons in Marion each year, about an hour from me. I'll have to check the date. It sure will be hard to wait that long!

My 2 cents worth.....

Proline #1 Better bang for the buck. This is just MY opinion, but it seems you pay too much for the Keene name. (Sorry Keene my opinion)

Definately check out the Gold Shows. You can get a lot of info & see the various brands side by side, better than pictures in a brochure. A lot of the dealers have show specials too.

If you like to tinker, build a box for the a52. I put one together for a buddy. The flare unbolts and the box bolts on in it's place. Didn't cost much since I had the tools and aluminum handy.

The biggest mistake people make is setting the angle too steep on the Prolines. If you keep the sluice as close to level as possible the recovery rate is extraordinary. Glad to know that you are satisfied with it.
