Opinions needed best for $$$

OK, I'm a newbie but I have got bit really hard and want to find the best detector for coin hunting. Suggestions?? I'm not worried about the learning curve, I'll learn it no matter how long it takes. Looking to spend in the $1K mark. Thanks.

Oh go ahead. Ain't no subject so fierce it can't be discussed.

Keith - describe your conditions and maybe we can help with a best solution. If there was only one that was best everywhere and for everyone there would only be one detector manufacturer and we'd all own that model.

Myself - I can't abide a detector with eight little icons that tries to tell me what of the thousands of possibilities I am sweeping over at the time. That's like being lied to 50% of the time unless it is a common coin. If you truly are just coin shooting it will be lees of a problem. Air test it with a 1/2 cent, a 2¢ copper, a 3¢ nickel and a 3¢ silver, a war nickel, a half dime and a 20¢ piece and see what it reads.
