i have the v3i and just recently put on the sunray i cant say anything bad about the set up for me in what i hunt and the places i go it awesome my question is im goin to be looking for a new coil and wondering what others maybe using on theres as of hunting places i go parks schools alot of woods for relics etc basically im looking for an all around coil sort of like the stock one it came with leaning more towards a smaller one so any opinions or thoughts would be apreciated very much aswell as who has good deals on them to thanks evryone :icon_scratch:

There are really great coil options the V3i/Vx3.

I have a Eclipse 5.3 that I bought for my MXT Pro and while it seemed to work fine I never really cared for it. I stuck it on my VX3 yesterday for the first time and it was magic. Super stable, great separation & surprising depth for its size. I would have no problem at all recommending that coil for Spectra users. Another really popular smaller coil would be the 4x6dd. Everyone that has one seems to love it.
Next coil on the list would be the 6x10dd. This is suppose to be the cats meow for the Spectra series machines. After talking with my dealer recently, this is my next coil! Never heard one bad comment from owners on this coil.

I think (for what that's worth) the 6x10 is probably the way to go. It'll probably get the same depth as the stock 950 coil, separate better, work into tighter areas better, run smoother than the D2 an generally be the best all around coil you can put on.

Thanks the 6x10 dd from what I hear is great I'm thinking its gonna be my next choice

What I've often seen lacking in these types of threads is the discussion of soil types and coil selection. If you have low mineralization I'd stick with concentric coils. If your ground has moderate to high mineralization you should stick with dd style coils. For example, the 6x10 dd coil may get as good or even better depth then the 950 eclipse concentric in moderate to highly mineralized soil. But the 950 will definitely outperform and see deeper then the 6x10 dd in low mineralized soil.

Ya your absolutly right before making that leap I think ill take mayb both detectors the atpro & the v3i to a couple of my normal spots & see of they get about the same gb & take that average & find the coil to fit the bill least with a couple detectors checking the same spot it'll give me a better average of the soil & I know I can analyze soil type with the v but for heck of it ill c if the pro gb's the same

That would depend on ones definition of "outperform". Two targets one iron one coin side by side in the best ground in the world and the 950 is only going to get the good one 50% of the time. Depending on which direction it's swung from. I'll take separation over 1/2-1" more feel good depth every time.

Both dd and concentric coils have their benefits. But yes, outperform, that is what I said. Not only will you get more depth for the concentric coil in low mineralized conditions, 10 percent less sensitive iron, 10 percent less sensitive to emi, ability to find good targets underneath iron targets. Ease in pinpointing.
Now dd coils have their advantages as well. Like increased side to side discrimination. Not needing to overlap your swings as much, do to the shape of magnetic field. Ability to operate in highly mineralized ground with less falsing.
But none of these advantages outweigh how a concentric coil will perform in low mineralized soil.

My arsenal for the V3i. I still have to get the 5.3. The 6x10 stays on 90 percent of the time.

Thanks, for the tips as well great looking bunch u got there

As far as depth goes I'll take the D2 any day of the week, it gets as good as depth as the 12" coil while separating great for a big coil and my ground is pretty good here. I believe the D2 is the best coil whites has made yet, it would be great if they could make it less susceptible to EMI without compromising the sensitivity to any targets. HH

I agree the 10" dd stock coil is an extremely deep coil. It also feels perfectly balanced on my v3i. It is annoyingly susceptible to emi. I don't agree that it sees as deep as the super 12. At least not in Iowa. The super 12 is much less susceptible to emi. I can run 5 high in areas I have to run 5 band with the 10" dd. I have also ferreted out silver with my super 12 in areas that I have covered with my 10" dd coil. Each coil has it's strengths and weaknesses.

I greatly prefer the 950 over the 10''dd. Same depth, much better pinpointing, better on coins overall and much less problems with emi. I will gladly trade a brand new 10''dd coil for any other v-rated coil that Is relatively new.
