Hey folks, I'm new to the forum. Has anyone ever tried gold panning Ontario or Quebec? I've read that you can't find nuggets in these provinces but I have my doubts. Not looking to steal anyone else's gold but would like to be pointed in the right direction. What does gold prospecting entail in these areas? I'm in BC right now and it's pretty simple, pick a creek or river and pan it. Don't know if this applies in other areas in Canada.

Welcome to the site!

The Chaudier river in Quebec is the probable source of much of the placer gold found in Maine, as well as other New England States, according to some experts.

Check out excitingcanada.com They talk about gold panning at Beauce, Quebec

Hope this helps!............HH

Hey thanks buddy much appreciated! Has anyone ever tried Northern Ontario in places like Timmins or Thunder Bay? Timmins has huge open pit gold mines. I'm wondering if you can sift through tailings if they are close to a river.
