A little slow today but I was going over dirt that had been detected hard before and I spent more time talking to some locals to get some info for the future. I managed 1 silver rosie, some wheats starting from 1927, cheapie necklace, clad and miscellaneous, but I need help ID'ing the decorative item. Is it some kind of hair barette or part of a belt buckle? Looks like it might have had some thin gold plating at one time and this was pretty deep at about 10". Thanks for looking.

Looks like one of thoses hemmingweights (I think I spelled it right) If I am right it was used to hold down the womens long dresses back in the day. I found one this past summer.

I have found a couple of those weights and they usually have more "weight" to them and usually are plain, not decorated. I am pretty sure it goes on the outside of something but thanks for your suggestion, it does have that similar design with the stem coming down through the hole.
