One Room School houses & an old Church Site, give up some goodies

Hi all,

Gary and I got out Saturday and just kinda wondered around looking for places to hunt. We finally ended up hunting several old one room school houses and then we ended the day back at our Church site.

Gary found 1889 Seated dime, a 1912 Barber Dime, a 1920 Mercury and a 1954 Rosy. He also found 3 V Nickels 1897, 1898, 18__ and 3 IH's 1886, 1901 and 1907. He also found a token worth 5 cents at the Bar, G W P. He also came up with a bottle opener, a couple of wheat's and 3 1940 nickels.

I found 1951 Roosevelt Dime, 2 V nickels 1884 & 1898, 3 IH's 1875, 1893, 1887, a Century of Progress Sky Bridge, Chicago 1933 penny token and a necklace with the name of Carol on it. I also found a toy pistol. and 3 axes.
I'm also including a picture of our trash finds and 3 axes I found.

Enjoy, we had a great time finding them.

Not bad for just wandering around looking for places! Great bunch of old coins. You guys have as much if not more fun than we do. Those old schoolhouses are really great.

Now, I have noticed something and you tell me if my perception is right. Does Gary find more than you Denny? And if so why? Nate use to find more than me when I had other detectors and still can whip me on the clad. He tends to search faster and cover more ground.

It sure seems that way, he can sniff out those hot coins. He digs a lot of targets and I think he must have a magnet in his shoes that goes straight for the good targets. LOL. I do have to admit, he is using the ACE 250 9x12 coil now and it really is going deeper. He let me use it at the Church site and I came up with 2 of my IH's and one of my V nickels using his coil. Mine isn't here yet and I can't wait.

I know you will be finding your first IH soon. You better hurry though the weather can't hold out much longer. Not sure if your detector has shows what you are finding, but don't just go by that, listen for the sound and if it is good and a steady good ring, dig it. IH's come sound a little different than regular pennies. If you have on, test it on your coil and see what it sounds like. That's a good idea for any coin or ring, lay it down and see what it sounds like with your detector.
