I did my research on some old maps and today we found the old one room school house foundation dated back to 1871, according to the old maps. The first foundation we came upon was about 8ft by 4ft ( I was thinking that this was too small for the actual school house) beyond this we found a bunch of what seemed to be concrete slabs broken up and some large rock walls. I detected a llittle around these areas, but only found scrap sheet metal like material. I think we are on the right track, but would like some advice..

Thank you in advance

Did you get a lot of iron signals around the first foundation? That's usually an indication that there was a structure there. You can usually tell where a structure was by the amount of iron in the ground and the iron will usually extend several feet from the cellar hole or foundation. It will be hard to hunt in the iron with an ace (unless you're looking to dig iron), but hunt just outside the perimeter of the iron and dig any signal above iron. My experience has been that it usually takes several return visits to a site until it starts producing. Once it does start producing you'll kinda get an idea where the activity was when there were people there and you'll start to know which areas to focus on more.

Good Luck!
