Hi Digupfinds,What crown is on the button,The reason i ask is the U.K and its colonies produced hundreds of military and civil buttons.I too have a couple of buttons that i cannot i.d.Being a one piece it would be reasonable to say 1830's.Any writing on the back.

Looks like a pre-victorian crown maybe William IV?

Tried to scan a better image but the design is very worn.

The back has no marking that I can see under the corrosion & I never over clean.

Hi Digupfinds,I can give you this much info i found.William iv was crowned king of the United Kingdom and the German state of Hanover on 26 June 1830.Died 7 years later. The H on your button may stand for Hanover and it has the King William iv Crown on it.My guess is that is a german state of Hanover Military Button from the 1830,s era.Button too was the design from that era.Not sure if the british used official civil buttons in that era

tinpan  Cool find and i,m not an expert lol

Is there a clear crossbar on the "H"? I can't quite tell from the photo, although there does appear to be some sort of line there. I ask because otherwise it looks a bit like one of the 11th North Devonshire Regiment button varieties used in the 1850's— however, that's pretty late for a one-piece. Anyway, here's an example for comparison:
