Today we unearthed:

A few buttons, one military button.
A small car :laughing7: maybe from a necklace
An 1844 Rushbrooke Farthing token (Willenhall, Walsall) for tea and groceries (Rushbrooke Farthing) - has a hole straight through the middle :(
A badge like item that is too worn to make out.
Another item from a chain or similar marked Victoria Club Soup. Charity? Soup kitchen?
More lead scrap and a modern 2 pence.

Nice finds RIP! :occasion14:
Your token has something to do with 'Victoria Soup'? :icon_scratch:

Yes although I cant find anything at all on the Internet. Maybe from a soup kitchen or something. I'm sure Crusader will know more about it.

Two types of token existed, one as an alternative currency and the other to cover the supply of a specific service. Workhouse and soup kitchens also issued tokens for food and relief. In 1844 one soup kitchen was providing 100 gallons of soup a day for the poor. A very interesting one that, a type I haven't seen before. Nice find.

Thanks for the info, so it is likely to be a token. The hole is the top from where they were kept together like on a chain?

You often find tokens that have been pierced, could be sewn into a coat, or kept around the neck with a piece of string for safe keeping.

The way I've always looked at it, if you dig something new (a first) then it was worthwhile. It triggered your research & you have learnt a little more. This hobby has still been never ending for me.....
