Detector(s) used
Nokta/Makro products, as well as others. Self built Mirage PI's. The Mirage is excellent in trashy sites, unlike many PI's.
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
I have used one for a year and it is truly amazing. Especially when
trying to retrieve coins from nylon mesh reinforced sod lawns. The guys up here
have tested them and they all love them. I bought a few more than I needed......
sort of like you just can't own one detector.

These digging tools are very hard to find since they are basically
sold to contractors for their business and retail for $45.00

Have a few of these in Brand New condition, still in the large plastic package. To make shipping easier they
will be removed and shipped in a smaller box.

Features:
* 6" Stainless Steel Blade
* 6" Ergonomic grip
* 2" Blade width
* Serrated blade to cut through roots
* Extremely sharp knife edge
* Rope cutting notch blade
* 12" measuring scale
* Beautiful Leather holster with belt clip
* Pommel end for hammering

If you want one they are $20.00 each plus shipping from Canada, usually around $15-19.00 depending on destination.
I do accept Paypal.

The ones we get from Lowes look pretty much the same just not with a fancy sheath for it and they are under $20.00

Yeah, similar, made by the same parent company but sold as a consumer product. The Jacksons were made for
lawncare contractors and the "leather sheath" is a beauty. The Jax slides in and locks in place, pulls out just as easily.
Clips right on your belt in a couple of seconds.

I also had the Lowes type, it's just as sharp as the Jax. You can easily cut yourself with the serrated blade edge, I have done it.
With the sheath I no longer have to toss it into my goodie pouch and worry about grabbing the blade edge.....

Doesn't matter to me which one others choose. Just offering some extras I have at a comparable price with the leather sheath.

Funny thing about these style diggers. When I advised members on a budget about them everybody called them junk they'll break in a dig or two.
I gave mine to my wife and she can break anything and hasn't broke under her abuse.
But I have to say that unless it has a full tang that is sturdy and not a cheap wire spot welded to the handle it may be a nice digger...anyone ever remove the handle to see if the blade body runs wide and solid all the way threw to the cap? Has anyone else broke the same model? Just curious to see if anybody calls the junk like they did a few months back...they do look nice..but looks can be deceiving...any comments? Mu wife is shovel murdering machine. We have a buckt full of broken shovels. Thats said I bought the identical one from lowes, the true temper one, and she has yet to break it, despite her best efforts. I've used it to pry some impressive stuff and hasn't broke yet.

Thanks for confirming my own observations. it wasn't on this Forum they called the junk but another with a Tool Shed Forum. I posted it as a good alternative for people on a tight budget who can't afford the $50 models. But it was like being "stoned to death" by others saying they were junk and broke quickly. I told them it wasn't met to be a prybar and they must be digging in Grannet but they still threw stones until I removed the post.
But the members here understand that everyone isn't rich and they a great for digging plugs! If I didn't have two others I'd buy one today. Woodstock

My True Temper 7 in 1 has held up well but I also would like to know if this one is tang-thru.

Couldn't tell you for sure. They maybe constructed the same but the Jax being cosmetically different,
with a more manly look to it for those contractors, who also needs that sheath.

I think here in Ontario there's about 30 or 40+ owners of them. They all swear by them.
Some actually own two of them.

There is one mod several of them do. Grind down the tip to a thinner knife edge, and or grind the tip to a knife point.
It will penetrate the ground much easier.

Pictured below is a mod'd Jax
