One of the best books around for Prospecting is "La Rune's Rockpecker Notes" by T.D LaRune.
It is a book devoted to mineral Prospecting. It uses concepts in Geology to explain how mineral deposits are formed.
There is a section for Gold and Gemstone hunting plus Mineral recognition and Chemical testing.
You can go to the section you want for specific information but I do recommend you read the whole book so you understand the Geology behind the process.
It was a tough read for me the first time but as I read it the second time things started to make sense.
This is not a light read, but it is well worth learning the Geology behind how minerals form.
If you are into gold and silver prospecting or rock and mineral collecting this book will help you.
Got mine from Action Mining but I notice they advertise it in ICMJ.
