Keep up the outstanding work everyone. I love this forum! Best place on the internet to get anything identified!

Have a great weekend - even if you're stuck inside!

Matt

It's people like you that make this forum so good. You have shared your knowledge countless times, thanks.

There is you, TCBG, and many more that have made the "What Is It?" forum what it is. Many years ago I stumbled onto this site while looking at metal detectors. Somehow I fell into the What is it forum here, and I was amazed at the vast knowledge base here and been here since.

I contribute a little here and there, but it's nowhere near as much as yall do.......That and it seems everyday I learn something new from yall!

I love this forum. I spend time here every day. It's fun and educational watching the threads develop as people offer theories and contribute knowledge trying to turn every thread from "What Is It?" into "What It Is!" I try to find answers to a lot of the stuff posted here. I know it's difficult. I've only had very limited success. There are a LOT of people on this site and in particular, on the "What is it?" section that make daily contributions and deserve some recognition and a "Thank You".

I gave Red-Coat a shout out a little while ago because he's a relative new-comer, but his concise responses, depth of knowledge, and insight blow me away.

Matt, you deserve a shout out too. your intelligence, insight, tenacity, and search skills are awesome! When I see that you have posted to a thread, I'm a little disappointed, knowing that I won't have to research because I know you've probably already solved it. Thanks! Keep up the great work!

Trying to help identifying things is one of the few reasons I still come back to this forum. I enjoy researching and learning about random stuff, so the "what is it forum" is a good fit for me

I really enjoy this forum and have made a lot of friends on here! even though some of the older stuff that I help ID is not that old to me:laughing7:

without guys like you, guys like me would have to spend a lot more time with my face buried in old books, catalogues, and endless poorly organized pdf files. I was once taught a valuable lesson by a friend of mine. "do not underestimate the power of tea time with your elders"

YEP!!! I live way up a holler with my 94 year old Mom, and she still insists on feeding me!

I guess I found heaven when I retired. She knows things I don't - I'm living with history.

We all appreciate all you do for us on “What is it” forum . Without dedicated people like yourself it would be much less viewed!
Thank you for everything you do!

True can't forget Red-Coat, he's also one of the ones that when he gives you an answer there is nothing left to ask. I mean that in a good way BTW.......

I think if we tried to make a list of the major contributers it would be quite long.....

Be interesting to see who the top 10 would be.

Yeah it can really be fun at times like the time I found this snapshot of these greatest generation movie stars of the 1940s in an antique shop within a stack of old personal photographs. http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/what/389988-snap-shot-1940s-movie-stars-who-they.html
It was a blast seeing it all come together by the members who frequent this forum back then. Sadly one of the best - What Is It - masters of all times Surf is no longer with us. That guy was awesome.

Wow. That would have been a tough on for me. In my 70 years, I think I may have seen a grand total of 5 movies, and never watch television. I wouldn't know one movie star from another.

You're right about the list. I hesitated to shout out to Red-Coat and Matt because there are many people who contribute regularly. Red-Coat stands out (to me) because of his breadth and depth of knowledge, and his conciseness. Matt stands out (again, to me) because of his intuitiveness, knowledge, and tenacity.

It was the bald headed fella. It was never determined who he was.

That’s what I was getting at, the one with glasses. “Breezy” played a big part in that discussion also.

I check this forum almost daily. The depth of knowledge and peoples research skills are second to none. The Cannonball Guy always amazes me, and Creskol always comes up with some amazing ID's on some of the more obscure items that get posted. There is no way to make a list of the top 10 because everybody that participates rate a "Number 1:award_star_bronze_1" to me.

This forum has been detrimental for many of my finds over the past years. The majority of my relics would probably still be just what's-its to me if it hadn't been for the many kind, talented, and knowledgeable people on this forum. The things I have learned over the years is absolutely insane! I just want to thank everybody on this forum for being my number one go-to for identifications, research, and a good laugh every now and again.
