I picked up my regular box and 2 additional boxes from another bank today.

Box 1 was from my weekly bank. It was one on my best single boxes so far. We found 1 1945 Walker, 1 1951 Benny, 3x64, 1x65, 3x66, 3x67, 3x68-D, and 4x1969-D. The box also had 1 82-P missing FG. While we were searching my wife asked "What the heck is this?". She found the back insert of a magicians coin with the British Penny head on one side. After that she was checking all the halves for a seam along the back edge but no luck. She also pulled a 1981 British 50P.

Box 2 was a skunk and box 3 had 2x66, 1x67, and 1x68-D.

Its fun to get the family involved. I always enjoy it when my wife helps me. Nice finds too!

Fropa,

Tell your wife to save her eyes trying to find that small seam. Have her drop each one on a hard surface like a counter or wooden table. The Magician coins make a dull thunk instead of a nice ringing sound when dropped.

Just throw them up there as you are checking the dates then swipe them off into your checked box, bucket, etc., etc..

You in Texas?

Thanks everybody. It is nice having my wife helping with the searching. It makes it more fun to see who finds the most silver or if someone finds a Ben or Walker can the other one match or beat it.

Thanks CLZinTX. I let her know your technique for finding the magicians coins. I've spent some time in Texas but live in Wisconsin.

Nice job Fropa. I agree....it's fun getting the family involved.

On the 82-P (no FG)....that is the only year and mintmark I find in my area with the no FG initials. From what I understand the 83's and 90's have some missing initials as well but I have yet to come across one. I know they exist because others have found them. I can figure out why I haven't found the other years yet.....things that make you go hmmm..........

On the magician coin, CLZ is right. I listen for the hollow sound....unmistakable sound. The ones that I have found you can't see the seam on some of those coins. They are fun to find. I give alot of the ones I have found to some of the tellers......they think they are so cool. Gotta keep them happy....ha!

Good luck on the next hunt......

I have read about 1972-D and 1973 having no FG initials as well but have never found either one.

Not sure if this is my good deed for the day or an attempt to slow all your searches down. LOL. Got the Cherry Pickers Guide, and they list a 1972 D no FG as well. I found one that just had the faintest top of a "G" so it doesn't count. Boo Hoo. Found examples of all the others. Note that the CPG doesn't the 82, 83, and 90 no "FG"! To well known? Anyone with the scoop on that, let me know.

HH.

Thanks LJ. I have found 5 of the 82-P and 1 83-P with missing initials in the 2 years I've been searching. I've only been looking at the 82-P, 83-P, and the 90-P so far. I guess I'll have to add the 72-D and 73 to the search for missing FG, thanks for the info GMan00001 and Sheldius.
