I thought I would get out for about an hour this afternoon. The weather was great after 2 days of rain. Right out of the box I dug a period pocket watch finder with a cool design. This is a lot I’ve hit a bunch of times but the soil is still moist after 2 days of rain.
The second good signal was the 69 caliber ball drilled out to be a fishing weight I believe. The third decent signal was this flattened out musketball that may have been used as currency or a game piece. As it was getting dark and the skeeters were swarming I pulled out the large sized gold plated flat button with an intact but bent shank. The back mark reads Double Gilt. I put it in my pocket and got back home.
Thanks for looking and happy hunting to all!

I love the watch winder!! That's really cool!

cool watch winder. I have found similar holed lead at a 3rd SW camp that look similar but the smaller one weighs 446 grains even with a hole, so not a 69 cal. Must have just been a fishing weight.....but the holes sure are huge.

Those sure like musket balls into fishing weights. Especially with the flattened ends. Thanks for commenting Village!

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Great finds! Can you hunt all year round there?

Thanks Creaky! Yes I try to hunt year round. It’s much easier for me this time of year because the summers only allow me an early or late hour or so due to being old and sweating a lot. Lol
Nice, another reason to live in Florida.
