This piece was another in the box of steins. What is it? To me it looks like a cream pitcher from a tea set, about 2" tall. On the side "majestic" is engraved. The bottom stamp is

manufactured by
Reed & Barton
875
6 oz
Pat Feb 15 1893

Only problem is I cant find a tea set or creamer in the Majestic pattern, if I search the # I come up with a soup terrine, a tooth fairy bank, or a child's mug. I tried the Reed and Barton web site and every silver dealer I could think of.

As always all help is greatly appreciated,
Matt

whether this helps or not...
All reed & barton silver and silver plate were marked with a date mark from 1927- 1958.
http://www.925-1000.com/RB_Date_Code.html
http://www.silvercollection.it/REEDBARTONDATE.html

also the style of the hallmark may help you to date this.
I also don't think majestic is the name of the style.
Maybe a house name or other name. It does look like a creamer,
but maybe some rich old lass gave her precious cat 'majestic' milk
from this creamer.
Normally the name of the product would not be on the side like that.

They made lots of things for the hotel trade. Maybe your creamer belonged to the Majestic Hotel somewhere.

Just tidying up some blasts from the past (including some very ancient ones), largely for the benefit of anyone searching the site for information.

There are no Reed & Barton patents for 15 February 1893. In fact there are no patents at all since that was a Thursday, and the US patent bulletin has traditionally been published once a week, on Tuesdays. I think you’ve misread the date and it’s actually 15th February 1898. There is a Reed & Barton patent for that date (granted to William McAusland) but it’s for a process to manufacture a “metallic spun article” and is generic in nature.

I would agree the probable reason why “Majestic” cannot be found as a pattern is that it’s not a pattern, but a custom engraving and likely for a café, restaurant or hotel with that name.

Gonna tidy up the past while burying all the newer stuff. How long will this go on?

Please don't be sad. I kinda like it that someone is putting the spotlight on these old post that never received all that could be said about them. It ain't like the RCT that's up top ever time you click on home or today's post. That thread is sinking interesting posts by the minute. Maybe it's time take up a vote to determine whether or not the RCT should sail or go after it like they did the Bismarck.
