This afternoon I went back to the old leveled farmhouse site and this is what I found: A Tetleys aluminium Tea thimble which has embossed "TETLEY'S TEA PLEASE", a silver plated spoon, a silver plated spoon/fork(?) and a spent .223 casing. Last time there I found a couple wheaties and a '64 nickel plus, what appears to be, some horse tack hardware. I gave all the semi keepers to the owner today. I KNOW theres gotta be some silver there but pretty soon the owner is gonna lime and plant the field and I dont want to disturb it after that.
HOWEVER, while searching around I found some large dirt mounds back in the wooded areas between the fields which look VERY INTERESTING. The aerial photos of the area show no structures there after 1937 but something man-made must have happened there prior to then. Just as soon as I get some tick repellant I'll be back!
Good Hunting
Pete
P.S.
If you have old aerial photos of a prospective site, offer a copy of them to the property owner when asking permission. Often, they are very impressed and will willingly give permission to hunt the requested area!
