It's been really hot and dry here, it rains, but doesn't soak in, or at least that's the excuse I am going with!

I slipped out to an old farm house last night, for a little bit of skeeter feeding. I know that you are not supposed to feed the wild animals, but they are so cute, and they looked really hungry.

I managed to dig a pocket full of trash (not shown), a couple of wheats, fishing sinker, 22 bullet, key... and a '41 Mercury dime! It was nice to see something shiny for a change. There are lots of nails at this place, the dime was between some nails, and would only beep in one direction. You have to go slow, and dig the iffy signals...IMO.

Thanks for looking and best of luck on your hunts!

Nice finds - put that dime in your MD upgrade fund! Now, the key - does it say Illinois Lock Company? If so - I found that company was founded in 1930 and in 1965 Illinois Lock was purchased by The Eastern Company. Might be an old key?

Always nice to see silver. There's probably more good stuff there, just have to get through the junk. At least that's what I always tell myself. [emoji482]

Hey that 1 little silver would make my day!, great job on getting out and grabbing up some goods!

Sweet! Nothing like the gleam of silver to make it a great hunt!
Congrats!

Well Tom, when the "wild life" lifts you up and starts flying away with you its time for STRONGER skeeter repellent!!!
:D

Congratz on Silver Tom! I'm ashamed to say that it's just been too damn hot here to swing.

"I slipped out to an old farm house last night, for a little bit of skeeter feeding. I know that you are not supposed to feed the wild animals, but they are so cute, and they looked really hungry." LOL :laughing7::laughing7: At least they give back, Zika, Malaria, Dengue Fever, Sleeping Sickness, Yellow Fever, Mad Cow Disease, Rickets, etc...

Congrats on the silver Tom!

Congratualtions on the silver and other goodies! :occasion14:

This time of year with the conditions that little silver looks like a silver spill. It's a good hunt just getting out so any silver is a big deal.
Some other nice finds too, Congrats!!

Nice one Tom! Always a pleasure plucking a Merc from the dirt. I hear you about the hard dry dirt, it's terrible here too. Glad you were able to claw some nice finds out.

Always nice when silver shows up! Hope you get some nice deep rains to make it easier for you.

That looks like one of those scarface mercs. I have dug those too:laughing7: Hey, Silver is good any way we can find it, even if it from Scrappy's 7-11 store.

Nice work buddy, my hillbilly zapper is still hard at work.

Congrats on the Merc Tom. :occasion14: It's nice to see you're still digging keepers.

Nice job CT. It's been in the mid 90s here in Maine which is very rare. And I've been working 80 hours a week but I hope to be out swinging like you soon. Congrats on the little silver with lots of character. My favorites!

Congrats on the Merc!

At least you got out, I'm waiting for the humidity to break. Last I went out I was drenched in sweat. HH
