Yes its true, I dug my 4th & 5th Plates here in Illinois. ( Sorry Civil War buffs, I know what your thinking), but they are plates. They are a 1911 & 1916 Illinois Motor Bicycle Registration Plates. They were used from 1908 to 1917. I'm finally getting back to business after recovering from shoulder surgery & knee surgery over the winter. I went back to 2 different fields that I had been working last October, & they did not disappoint. I was only in the first field 10 minutes when I found the 1845 Large Cent. Things were quiet for a while & then the 1916 plate showed up. ( Its the better looking of the two ). I also dug some wheats that are not pictured - a 1910, 1911, 1944, & 45. Then on Sunday, I went to the 2nd field where I found the toasty looking 1911 Plate, & the 1875 Seated Liberty Dime. She's slick, but has a very clear date. Also found the 1898 Indian Head & Tootsie Toy Truck. I will be revisiting both of these fields. I'm only good for about 3 hrs. before I get tired. I have to get my stamina back. Sitting around for 4 months made me soft. Not to bad for my first 2 hunts of the year. Its great to be back out in the fields !
