...and only one more to go!! I dug silver coin no. 84 on Friday the 16th. I had a few hours of free time before a drs appt. on Friday afternoon, so that morning I headed over to a huge park that I hit last year with the Ace. I had GREAT luck last year in the huge tot lot, bringing home over $10 in clad and a 10k ring. I decided to check the tot lot again, to see how well it had been replenished (I took both the Ace and the E-Trac). After about an hour and a half with the Ace, I had just under $1 in clad (mostly mem cents that I missed last year), and figured that despite its large size, this tot lot doesn't replenish itself very quickly.
After finishing the tot lot, I still had about an hour and a half left to hunt, so I switched over to the E-Trac and began hunting the grassy areas of the park in earnest. I wasn't too sure about it, as I heard last year that this park has been pounded since the '70s (yep, there go those darn disco-tectors again; 'Batts are you paying attention ), and that there weren't any goodies left to find. Imagine my surprise when, less than 10 minutes after I started, I find a beautiful '24d merc (full split bands; very little wear) only about 4 inches deep. Also got a '44 wheatie about 6 feet from where I found the merc.
Totals for the 16th (and for the 15th, (another day of huntin' in DA 'HOOD)): '24d merc (silver coin no. 84); 3 wheats ('37, '39, '44); Kiddieland amusement park game token (remember THAT place I sure do); cool looking Olds hood ornament (all I seem to find in DA 'HOOD is clad, bullets, and the occasional hood ornament...hmmm...hood ornaments in DA 'HOOD...).
Two day clad total ended up being $5.85. Not pictured is a '76 Canadian cent and a small caliber fired bullet (I think my bullet collection is starting to rival that of some CW relic hunters... .
Back at it tomorrow, here's hopin' I find no. 85!!! Pics of DA LOOT (some of it from DA 'HOOD) below. Enjoy!!
