Went down to Baltimore county today to one of my tiny streams. This one usually puts out one every flooding so I never expect much. Today wasn't any different. I have been in a slump so it was a welcome point though. Little off the tip and base but well made for quartz. Also found a pipe stem. No biggie but this one was stamped with David on one side and sgow coming outta the break on the other. Any ideas?

Thanks guys. Been picking up bases and tips here and there. Only place I can get to all the time is a sod field and if anyone knows sod fields they know its a pain to find whole ones there. They do disc heavy then level and really pound and break the rock. I have seen beautiful quartzies crushed but still stuck in the dirt together after sod was cut. Real slow around here. Lost an island and the little field I had has corn that's too big to see dirt now. Was trying to walk a field where I will be moving soon and the farmer came up and said no walking while its planted. Going to be a tough year.

Good save. I feel your pain on the hunting. I have had to try to get away from the beaten path. It is a hard thing to do Ben. Maybe Gator knows about the pipe stem he has a ton of them. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah. My sites I started with have been overrun in the last 5 years. Workin hard to find new ones. Hard to approach the farmers sometimes. Some of them have bad reputations. Wonder the best way.

Moonshine works well here. Lol. My best way sometimes is to be introduced. Always net work. I know a guy that used to go to the co-op and ask them for farmers names that might have fields along rivers and he would say so and so at the co-op said it would not hurt to ask. He did well that way and it gave him a starter conversation. One thing you never want to do is approach a guy when he is on his tractor and working and make him stop. To be honest though plowed fields are getting hammered around here so I am focusing on other types of hunting. I dont have the time to drive hours and hours and that is what it takes to get off the beaten path. Try new areas or sometimes things right under are noses are missed.

Nice point! Dang I found his twin brother the other day.

Nice wasn't that a sapphire next to the pipe stem? Just kidding lol. It does look like a great rock-hounding spot too though. Nice finds to come out of the slump. Thank for posting.

I do pick up plenty of cool rocks too. And yes that is pretty darn close to twin! It's different here the rivers creeks and bay are hit the hardest.

All I can say is that sure is a pretty point! :icon_thumright: Thanks for sharing.

really like the in-situ photos...well done!

Thanks everybody. I had got so pumped that I took the video without doing a still of the in situ. I took that pic straight from the vid. Kinda blurry but glad I got one.

Better than what I have found in the last 2 weeks. The fields are either planted or havent been plowed. The creek is covered with posion ivy so thats out. I guess I will take up fishing for the summer. Nice find Ben.

nice little point ben

Thanks everyone. Got some more streams near this one so ill hit them up when I get time.

Hello there, just registered on this site and looking for other posts from the Maryland, Delaware, and SE PA areas. Your pipe stem would have said "GLA...SGOW" the city in the UK . I am over in Queen Anne County now, but grew up in Harford County, digging bottles, and finding prehistoric artifacts in the Bynum's Run and James Run drainages, mostly in plowed fields, and sure wish I would have had the sense to look in the creeks and steams back then.
