I responded to a post on another forum months ago regarding Minelabās policy selling to Sudan in Africa. The post was promptly deleted telling me to keep my political views away from the forum.
US companies will not and can not sell into that country and have warned their domestic and international dealers about doing so even if they have reason to believe it is the final destination of the product. Minelab encourages and endorses selling into this country known for sponsoring and harboring terrorist. Many US manufacturers have turned down business because the customers indicated Sudan as a final destination. I wouldnāt feel too good about supporting Minelab since they feel it is ok to support terrorism. I am a staunch American Patriot and lost a friend on 911and will never support a company that supports terrorism in any way shape or form.
There is a reason the US has a trade embargo with Sudan and if Australia and Minelab thinks its ok to sell into a country that sponsors terrorism I canāt help but feel they help fund and sponsor terrorism especially because what they are selling is finding gold which is basically money.

The United States employs a broad range of tools in its efforts to combat domestic and international terrorism. One of these tools is the imposition of economic sanctions against states which sponsor terrorism. In accordance with the Export Administration Act of 1979, the Secretary of State compiles annually a listing of countries that support or participate in terrorist acts. Currently, the U.S. has designated four state sponsors of terrorism worldwide: Iran, Cuba, Sudan and Syria.
Since 1979, a number of different laws have expanded the universe of sanctions against nations supporting terrorism. Federal agencies, primarily the Departments of State, Treasury, Commerce and Transportation, implement the sanctions which include import embargoes, export license controls, freezing assets, terminating new loans and credit extensions, terminating air services and curtailing other activities between the U.S. and the nations designated as sponsors of terrorism like Sudan.
Minelab has publically bragged about their sales into this country which really rubbed me the wrong way so I called them and asked about their policies. When I called Minelab USA I was told that they and their dealers are selling lots of units into Sudan and that this is partially responsible for shortages on their product worldwide when questioned about selling to Sudan the representative told me they will sell to whoever places an order regardless of where it is going. I asked if they informed any of their customers regarding the US imposed embargo and they said it is not their job and it is the responsibility of the dealer. This prompted me to call Minelab in Australia to see if they also endorsed selling into Sudan. I was told that they fully endorse sales into Sudan and encourage their agents specifically in the Middle East to sell there along with other agents around the world. I mentioned that Sudan is one of only 4 Countries in the world on the United States state sponsored terrorism list and was surprised by the response I received from āNedanā the gentleman I was talking to-He said āWe are in Australian company and not an American company so we do not have to adhere to any US sanctions, policies or embargoes imposed on other countries.ā WOW! So Minelab basically said they encourage selling metal detectors into a known terrorist country and could care less about US policies in order for the people in this country to find GOLD!---this sounds pretty close to sponsoring and supporting terrorism to me-shame on Minelab. Maybe their attitude will change if one of their cities gets blown up because of all the money the terrorist make finding gold with detector they sell there.
I was provided with letters sent from 2 US manufacturers to their dealers worldwide warning against selling to anyone that indicates the final destination is Sudan along with a long explanation of the US embargo and what it means-When I called these US manufacturers they explained they strongly oppose any sales to this country and any of their representatives indicating so will be terminated -immediately-the opposite of the official Minelab policy. US companies warn dealers not to do it and Minelab encourages their dealers to do it. Next thing you know Minelab will be selling into North Korea and Iran and blaming shortages on this......
I will forever boycott Minelab and feel anyone that supports and buys their products is helping to indirectly fund terrorism along with Minelab.
I am sure once they get wind of people knowing about this they will change their tune and possibly come out with a different official statement but as far as I am concerned the writing is on the wall already and much of the damage has been done no matter what they do or say now that it has been brought to the publics attention if this post is not deleted.
ML detectors are made in Malaysia-and ML is a foreign owned company which means virtually all the hard earned American dollars spent on Minelab products leaves the country hurting the US economy-this along with their support of terrorist nations is enough for me to never buy their products.
