Nice sunny day, which I took off work.
This was the last day on the beans as they were just starting to show, & we were there to help protect them, not damage them, so times up.
We have covered over 10 acres which is close to 50% of the field & was the best half, so job, pretty much done. Although we hoped for 1 Roman Silver that never happen. (got close today with a slightly silver plated Ant!)
I did just over 6 hours & Cru'dad did just over an hour at the end. (he had over commitments)

11 Scrappies (best 1 day total from this field)
1 Lead Token
Candle Holder
Livery Button
Roman Pin Head
2 bits of scrap silver
Crappy broken Hammered - Just saved the day from a double back-to-back blank. A trend for this year, so it seems...

I never liked eating them as a kid but this proves that beans can really be good for you... :icon_thumleft:

Well you managed to get some silver, not that they're show pieces but as they say"Silver is silver."
So it was a good day, congrats.
I don't see many palm guards, or do you not bother postingthem up?

The broken ones we recycle, & the complete ones we keep but don't find loads of.

Still a good day. Every day out is a good day. :laughing7:
What do you guys call palm guard?

You made a lot of interesting finds! Thanks for showing them to us!

I imagine the bits of the hammered were mangled by a plow perhaps...always fascinating when they do turn up in good condition after laying dorment for so long...you're due for an incredible find...

Than i probably have one in the car to keep my filling station receipts from flying away. :tongue3:
What do you think?

Not sure what that is other than whats left of a steel yard weight, as it has some iron in. Palm guards pretty flat & more egg shaped.

It's pretty flat but has iron going through. No loop just the rusted out part on the flat side. If it was a steelyard weight it got it's weird shape hundreds years ago. :dontknow:

Palm guards never have any iron.
