That happens periodically on the San Andreas and Cascadia fault lines and it's a good thing. As the pressure is released it means the big one is farther in the future.
 

Yeah too bad we can't 'lube' the joint.

It could also mean that pressure is building where it hasn't slipped yet along the 800 mile long San Andreas fault line.

"Soon" in geological time is measured in hundreds or thousands of years...
 

soon as in months ....... if one but looks at the speed at which its going around the ring of fire plate --earthquake wize.

look at the recent quakes and their locations along the " pacific rim tectonic plate area --esp chile and japan * and baja , mexico
 

Look at 2004, all the quakes on the Pacific plate, New Caledonia, Indonesia, India, Fiji and Japan......
