omg I can't believe it!!!

I was checking my junk iron and sifting through the heavy stuff and I saw what I thought was a piece of metal from a Mason jar. When I found it that's what I thought so I just threw it in the junk. But when I was checking it out today I noticed it and realized the other side had an eagle!!! Score!!!! I'm so excited. Always double check your finds!!

Love surprises like that. Huge congrats!!!

I know!! I got my kids to thank for that. They poured out my bucket of junk and I had to pick it all up lol

So glad you didn't throw it out, that's a great find!!

No do!!

cool find! I did something similar this week and my buddy rescued my find from the trash. man I want to dig one of them plates bad.

I did the opposite the other day......thought I had a breastplate but had a mud-caked mason jar lid. Congrats!!!

Cool find, greetings from up the road in Magnolia,Braggs rebel army came right up 31E in 1862 and camped over here in Hodgenville. Buells union troops moved up 31W on to Louisville, they both met that fall in Perryville. There was a lot of activity around this area, the fields are littered with treasures we can only guess at. This book is fantastic,a lot of it goes on right in our area. http://www.kentuckypress.com/live/title_detail.php?titleid=1109#.VzduoPkrLIU

Man I'm so glad that didn't get thrown away. Probably happens more than you think. Breast plate is very high on my wish list.
Thanks for sharing, may make us all look a little closer
