I took the Omega out for my her 3rd hunt today, but this was my first hunt using the NEL Sharpshooter DD coil. There is an elementary school down the street from me that I use as a proving ground, so to speak, that I hit whenever I pick up a new detector or coil. I have had 4 different machines, with approximately 8 different coils at this site. At the risk of being redundant, I have found nearly $60 in clad a .925 silver/cz necklace and a lot of junk jewelry at this school in the 2 years I have been hitting it. I pretty much had cleaned it out other than a few shallow zincolns. So if I get a coin more than a couple inches deep, it gets my attention, thus it makes for a good proving ground. The spots I hit today are my go-to spots in front of some classrooms, around some shade trees, and near the school marquee where kids tend to hang out a lot. I was able to run up to 69 with very little EMI & zero noise when swinging. I ran disc at 15-16, 4 tones. Ground is good at this school (I have found 9"+ deep dimes with f2 here) and GB was in the mid to high 50's. I was so much more comfortable with the great separation & it was immediately noticeable over the 8" concentric my particular Omega came with. I learned it hits hard on nickels, one was 6" deep, another a solid 5". ID never went past 57. It was a pulltab every time it went above 57. The one copper penny I dug was ringing up right between zinc & copper, at 80. Dimes rang higher so that was nice. I found one quarter at 7". Found the Disney watch at 4". The patterns that trash items give are really discernible to me already. Other machines I have had, tended to lock onto junk targets upon multiple passes. The Omega will give bounce from 2 numbers (left to right) in the nickel range then on the 3rd pass it drops into lower foil range. These targets were always aluminum trash. The pinpointing on this coil is incredible! The target is EXACTLY under the square "Teknetics" sticker toward the tip of coil. I was digging 2-3" wide plugs within about 5 minutes of using the NEL. Very easy to learn. ID numbers seemed to match what the concentric was, didn't seem to be jumpier etc... The weight was not bad at all, maybe just slightly heavier than the 8". The build quality of the NEL is very nice. It looks to be very durable, and has a very thick cable & the coil cover is not some cheesy, thin thing that falls off like my Tesoro covers would. The NEL company just earned a lot of respect from me. To find 2-3 coins you missed in your hunted out spots is one thing, but to find 15, from 3-7" deep is impressive to me. I am definitely pleased (if you can't tell by my gushing, lol) with this setup. The Omega/Sharpshooter combo is a keeper for sure. HH, Scott
