i don't know what kind of value it has but as i tell my wife when she asks me that its priceless because you won't find another one just like it.i guess i am just weird like that.lol

Very cool.. I didn't realize until recently that there were cat tags as well

WOW ~ VERY COOL FIND! Congrat's!!

The oldest known tag for Denison TX is 1893 (as listed on page #247 of Bill Bones' book US DOG LICENSE TAGS)! . . . .SOOOO. . . . . get back out there and find a 1892!! HA HA HA!!

GOOD LUCK!!
Neil

I shared your find with Bill Bone ~ he keeps tabs on all pre-1900 dog tags known. He said that pre-1900ctags from Denison are not rare, BUT this is the first 1894 dated tag known from there! SO COOL! . . . . yours is registration number 364 . . . . that means there was 363 tag issued before this one (and who knows how many after), so where are all the other ones at?!

i just feel fortunate to have found this one.ihave found other old ones from different cities earliest being 1910 did not realize they even had dog tags that long ago.learn something new detecting all the time.thats what is so great about this hobby.

what other tags do you have?! PLEASE post pic's of them! You just might have a new O. K. (oldest known) tag!

No you are not weird . I'm the same way . A very nice piece. p.s. I prefer the to be called " eccentric"

Does anyone ever wonder what kind of dog it was...it's name, or where it lived?
I'll bet that somewhere there was a record.

Very nice dog tag, Congrats !!

Do people actually collect animal tags? I have found some over the years. Recently I found a copper one dated to 1946.
