Looks like a halfpenny, not a farthing. Farthings were 1/4 pennies. Good stuff if you were able to get a date off those, the soil around me is not kind to KGIIs.
Ok correct me if i am wrong but if it is a 1756 half penny that would mean its a counterfeit....and possibly worth quite a bit.
I need to clean it up a bit but with research im pretty sure this is a 1736 copper farthing fron great britain!! Is this the king george coumin everyone talks about? My third 1700s coin from this spot!!! <img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=877127"/> <img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=877128"/>
Even though 1756 is a fairly rare date, most I know of still aren't rare enough and collectible enough to be worth much in that condition.
The coin looks very close to a Regal, so I suspect the obverse is going to be the usual looking young head - which likely means it's actually 1736 and just looks like 1756. The 1756 counterfeits would probably have an old head obverse, and if not, a young head but not one that looks like the genuine coin. I'd probably bet my detector right now that the other side has the usual 1730s George, and it's 1736.
I dont know enough about these to understand the difference between regal and non regal. Could u elaborate :-)?
