I got 2 days in this week at a site we refer to as the "abandoned road" site. It is a good 3/4 of a mile into the woods down an abandoned road which is now grown over with trees and very swampy in parts. Its a nice site because it is fairly dry and has no undergrowth from the trees and no saplings around. Two wells, privy hole, house cellar hole (big and deep), and 4 barns/other structures that were there. Some other notable finds from this site from earlier on in the year were a holed 1782 1/2 reale, an 1865 2 center, various IH's, sterling thimble, 1896 barber dime, Civil War store token, and an 1851 1-Pfennig. Browne is the name of the property owner when the property was first established which is Germanic of origin.....which I find interesting seeing as how there was a 1851 German 1 pfennig basically an inch down right next to the house.....and then my bigger find from Fridays hunt.....drum roll please.....what seems to be some sort of Germanic state coin dated 1750. I'm not really good with the foreign currency besides Spanish silver so I cannot be 100% sure so if anyone has info on it....it would be very helpful :) Also a 1893 IH was my only other coin from the site on Friday. And between Friday and Saturday I dug a cute...what looks like to be a type of suspender buckle....5 flat buttons...3 still with the shank....a piece of lead which looks like it has writing on it, could be a child's, very cool looking.......skeleton key.....pewter spoon bowl......1 shotgun shell brass.......a few random pieces of bullets and very very very few pieces of junk. This is one of those sites that a detectorists dream. It doesn't produce all of the time, but there is little garbage, nothing past the 1930s or so at this site......very few targets......but if you spend a day or two there you can always pull out something good. And trust me I will def be back....it always seems to draw me in. I also included a few pictures I took of the site back in the fall when there was no foliage on the trees or ground...but they were with my cellphone and aren't of the best quality....sorry. Good luck everyone....enjoy the pics..... and happy hunting :)

Nice finds. Good to see a colonial silver that is not Spanish every once in a while

hmmm, that site says its Cu....I don't understand that because it came out as is, minus a little soap and water, so my coin must be silver, not copper....I dont get it haha

Yeah like the fourth one down has the same markings but it is copper. Yours is definately silver. Couldn't find anything else on it. Im sure someone can help that may have a book. But im thinking it is pretty rare and especially to be found in an old site like yours. It is a very cool find for sure :icon_thumleft:

No problem! Glad i was able to help. Whether it has a good amount of value or not, i would be thrilled to find it and it is a beatiful coin. ;D

Wow, what a cool site you've got there. I can remember hitting places like that when I lived in Ithaca years ago. Nothing like that in Texas where I live now.
