Since I started MDing I usually check my change when I pay for something.? This morning I was at the Quick Trip and got back some small change.? Something about a nickel drew my atention, couldn't tell you what.? Anyway, the nickel was a 1941D and looked circulated but absolutely no perceptable wear!? I wonder where it's been all these years to be so new looking?? I was shocked! Hope some kid didn't cash in his Dad's coin collection.? Monty

Cool Find Monty.

My Guess This time of year, Alot of Savings get Cashed in.

Especially This year with Fuel Prices Pulling alot Of People Fruther Into Desperation.

I guess that's your gain. I constantly check my change. If I could only get it to double. I think starting in January, I'm going to keep a jar just for change found on the ground. Oh yeah, another one for junk drawer change and laundry. My girls get embarrased when I pick up a penny in a parking lot. I'll make a good point after a year has gone by. I'll be sure to make a post for that one.Take care Monty, HH Art...

most of the time the store clerks get them first. must have slipped through their fingers.

Always good to look at the change anymore. My last decent find was a silver quarter. Of course that was a year ago. Nice find.

Congrats on your find Monty!

Nana ;)

Good eye-baller Monty, WTG!!!
I read the post abouit your daughter the other day, but had to run before I could reply. I hope she's doing ok...
Good luck & Happy hunting~

Earlier in the year I found a 1944 quarter in my change. That was the year I was born. Then the year 1944 started showing up nearly every day on the forum for a couple of months! It seemed like every time someone found a silver coin it was dated 1944! I took it as a bad omen but everything is OK so far. Maybe it was a good omen, or maybe it didn't mean squat? I'm inclined to go with door #3! :-\ Monty

We run a little roadside fresh produce stand and we get a lot of change. We've been open for four years now and have yet to take in any silver. I've seen a lot of 1965 quarters though. They must have minted a ton of 'em. Seems like it anyway. :)

I used to work at a liquor store. There was this guy who would come in all the time. And once and awile he would pay with silver coins. He once bought a pint of Vodka with all Mercs. Needless to say I have all them silling in my room.

When I get extremely bored I just head out to the bank and get a few hundred dollars in change and open up my coin albums and try to fill in the plugs. Here are some coins that I have found recently in rolls of coins:

1976S 40% Silver Half Dollar in AU
3 1940s Silver War Nickels
Probably 100 or so nickels from 1938-1949 and hundreds from the 1950s
About 20 silver roosevelts
1967 half dollar
1934 silver canadian nickle (how it got there i'll never know)
a few wheat pennies
canadian nickles, pennies, dimes, quarters, etc
20 swiss francs coin
mexican coins
1973 Ike dollar with GM stamped deep into it

I've found some others.... anybody else do this?
