I wish I wouldn't of broke it when I dug it out today metal detecting but I did. Anybody have any ideas on this? The area dates back to the 1880's. It's made of copper.

I cannot make out the letters stamped on the bottom, but that would be your clue as to what company this tool tag belonged to.

Yeah that's where I am stuck at. I believe it's THT & _ Co. tried to google it.

Could it say CO (for county) instead of CO (for company)? If so, it might be a dog license. Any local counties that fit the spelling?

The county is Tyler and old dog tag or miners tag would make sense. The nearest coal mines are 50 to 60 miles north and the bottom of the tag were the piece is missing has an & just before the piece missing and CO. I sent a pic to the historical society in Tyler maybe I get an answer there. Will post if we do.

The stamping looks like it could be, " T. HT. & S. Co." or, possibly "Name and Son Company" Does appear to be a tool tag. Good luck, Sub 8-)
