Love to watch old Westerns on the tube, "Wagon Train" was running the episode i believe was called "the Castle Tanner", early in the episode there was a scene where some Indians were sitting on a outcrop of rocks watching the wagons pass by, this scene lasted all of 15 seconds....
Early TV resolution was not that great but to the right of the frame was one unusual outcrop of rocks. It had what appeared to be a very large face similar to a monkey or gorillia looking to the right of the shot...
I have no idea where they filmed any of this stuff, from what I hear they shot these old westerns every place from California to Arizona, this location had heaps of organ pipe cactus that I would guess to be in the 100-200 year old area, but a little research could very likely get you that information... Have fun and be safe.

A great many films were made in an area known as 'Mormon Rocks' located along what is now the I-15/I-215 in San Bernardino, CA

Some of the Tom Mix Westerns (old Sagebrush Theater) were made in the San Fernando Valley area...

I have seen several episodes filmed in what appears to be Joshua national too... But this one caught my attention as having a potential treasure marker.

I use to watch old westerns with my father when I was younger, in those days I was a kid and didn't look at much off the scenery. But now as an adult I think it rubbed off on me, I live in the country and love watching old westerns. I even dream of the time that I get to go out and visit the west, those of you that live there should cherish every moment you have in that part of the country!!! :headbang:

Don't sell VA short been there too and it is a beautiful state. I have managed to hit most every state in our country, and all this has taught me each one has something unique and beautiful.
Should you ever go west link up with some of the locals and find a metal detector store, or mining supply shop, lots of color and sage advice is to be had sitting around the table and just listening to their stories, and every one I have ever been to have all welcomed a new comer with open arms.
Only don't do I try and tell them how to be more efficient or better ways, do not be in a hurry, and spend some time but enjoy.
