there was a recent story of an excavation but i can't recall where. maybe arizona? anyway, the original location of the town sheriff's office hasn't been paved over. the current government buildings are around it but the original site was accessable. so, some team decided to explore the old site of the outhouse as seen on old record from late 1800's. they did an actual, careful, scientific excavation layer by layer. they found, surprisingly, all sorts of relics! an old sidearm gun, knives, etc. the suspicion of course was that they items fell away from the old pioneers the same as cell phones fall into the toilet today. one aspect of the dig that they really didnt expect... the deeper they went... the more FOUL the odor!!!! the old crap shoot had not aged, degraded as everyone expected. they said it was pretty hard to dig & sift. but, for those of you who wish to explore.... there you have it. a category area probably not worked since 100 plus years back!
