Hello all.
My uncle gave me this patch a few days ago when I was up in Indiana. He didn't know too much about it, but said it was some sort of military patch. He's had it for ages, but I'm not sure exactly how old it is.
The patch is about 3" tall.
Any help would be appreciated.
I told him someone on the TN site would surely ID it.
Thanks,
MM

Tank Destroyer Force. Worn from 1942-1946. And yes, its a panther eating an enemy tank. :) Great patch!

A little more on the patch

nhbenz hit it with the ID!

All of the battalions within the US Army Tank Destroyer Force wore this standard patch. Some units added their designator on the patch itself or added scrolls with their unit designation. The only unit that didn't waer this patch was the 802nd Tank Destroyer Bn. Apparently their patch wasn't completely authorized by the Army. They wore the patch Stateside, but not while overseas. Anyway, here's a few pics that I dug up online of the panther patch variations, and also the 802nd's patch.

SgtSki,
Great info and pix. Thank you. That bottom patch with the lightning bolt is way cool too.

I wish I had time. I felt like I was running a 5 day race up there. ;D It got pretty cold too.
I'll take a rain check for next spring. ;)
