Old vehicle license found at beach

Today i finally found a beach that was eroding. I grabbed my new detector and started to work a rocky area. I'm loving the ctx 3030 so far and was so impressed how much better it separates targets that the e-trac. through a mountain of trash I was able to pull some neat finds and the coolest of all is this license plate? I really don't know what it is other than its super cool. Any info on it would be great as i'm trying to look myself. thanks for looking

Your license plate is probably from a motorized bicycle. Illinois issued them from 1913 to 1918 and are numbered and dated with the year. I have found 8 of them here. Research or google "motor bicycle plate early 1900's" for your state, and you may pick up some info on it.
